Before the ceremony had even taken place, we had all laid our bets on who would top Best Dressed Lists on this, the morning after the Academy Awards 2013. The votes are in and we at What She Wears have decreed that this year’s awards raised the bar even further style-wise.

Featuring an assortment of traditionally classic ballgowns and some slinkier numbers from some of the more fashion-forward attendees, there was a dress for everyone.

It was a difficult choice but we at What She Wears have narrowed down the many who walked the red carpet last night to a mere ten in order to give you the Best Dressed from the Academy Awards 2013.

Anne Hathaway in Prada: A winner all-round last night, Anne Hathaway walked away with the gong for Best Supporting Actress in Les Miserables, as well as the coveted title of What She Wears’ Best Dressed. Resplendent in a pale pink Prada gown, this Audrey Hepburn-inspired number was in keeping with her recent style evolution.

Salma Hayek in Alexander McQueen: Salma Hayek stunned in this custom Alexander McQueen creation last night. Usually one for pouring her curves into dramatic ballgowns, this Cleopatra-inspired dress with embellished neckline was a refreshing choice for the actress.

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Couture: As the face of Miss Dior it was no surprise that Jennifer Lawrence would don this bridal look from the designer. A classic ballgown in every sense of the word, it was a scene-stealer and the perfect option for the young actress on her debut outing to the Oscars.

Topping the polls and earning herself a place in What She Wears’ Best Dressed List is Jennifer Garner in Gucci Premiere. There to support hubby Ben Affleck who won Best Director, Jennifer was one of few ladies to work the colour spectrum in this statement gown.

Next up is British singing sensation Adele, who walked away with Best Original Song for James Bond’s Skyfall. Ravishing in this custom Jenny Packham number, Adele clung to her tried-and-tested formula of vintage-inspired, accessorising with her trademark sixties bouffant.

Having established herself as one of fashion’s elite over the years, it was no surprise that Naomi Watts would top Best Dressed Lists. Gorgeous in futuristic Giorgio Armani, Naomi’s ice-blond bouffant was accessory enough for this metallic gown.

A surprise entry, Kristen Stewart shone in strapless Reem Acra. Appearing demure in this blush-coloured creation, her tousled hair and natural make-up was in keeping with her laidback aesthetic.

Strapless seems to have been the order of the night as Amy Adams was just one of many starlets who donned this style. Ruffles galore abounded in this grey Oscar de la Renta gown, given an edge with its low-cut bustier top.

A surprising yet no less deserved entry is Stacy Keibler, girlfriend of George Clooney. Showing off her enviable figure in Naeem Khan, the pro-wrestler chose to showcase her elegant shoulders in an embellished halterneck gown.

Last but not least is Oscar nominee, Kerry Washington, who also went with colour in this coral Miu Miu dress. Another lady who stuck to strapless, the streamlined shape of this gown allowed for abundant embellishment, topped off with a colour-clash clutch from Jimmy Choo.

What do you think of our compilation? Who topped your best Dressed List for Oscars 2013?
